Welcome to the Borel Neighborhood!

The Borel Neighborhood Association works to foster a sense of community and enhance the quality of life for all individuals within our neighborhood. We hold quarterly meetings and socials throughout the year. We focus on San Mateo citywide issues that impact Borel Neighborhood such as the Community Flood and Storm Protection Ballot Measure, proposed historic district, and building electrification.

Our priorities include:
Neighborhood Safety, including helping reduce crime by participating in the Neighborhood Watch Program and all that includes (e.g., signage, promoting home camera registration with the San Mateo Police Department).
Safe Streets, through advocating for street design and use that is safe for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other micro-mobility, and also speed adherence and enforcement.
Building development that benefits the community, including reducing environmental impact. We support transformation of aging commercial and office space into inclusive neighborhood assets.

  • Happy July!
  • Lt. Pak helping Borel with tips to reduce crime.
  • We had a great turn out for our spring meeting in Borel Park with Guests Mayor Dias Nash and SMPD Lt. Pak.
  • Borel Neighborhood Association Spring Meeting with Mayor Diaz-Nash
  • Traffic calming 101. These cones in the middle of the street in front of a middle school create the illusion of a narrow street, which leads to drivers driving slower and a safer street for all.
  • Thank you City of San Mateo Public Works for the new paint indicating drivers to Stop before turning on our street. It looks great!
  • More trash. Time for a clean up.
  • Impromptu neighborhood clean up. These toys have been here for days. They are being strewn further into the bushes and farther away from the play field.
